‘Peter Miller is not just a compelling singer-songwriter, he is a true guitar original with his synthesis of blues bottleneck, country jazz, and beyond, played with great care and finesse on resonator instruments. He is a cosmopolitan musician who always thinks outside of the box —

Adam Perlmutter, Editor, Acoustic Guitar Magazine

Mad day dirt rain draws inspiration from a number of styles, regions, epochs; all within the realm of country, blues, jazz and folk.

Whilst exploring the rich heritage of slide/bottleneck guitar, Miller’s songs speak of longing and loss, hope and discovery, heritage and healing.

mad day… serves as a very personal re-introduction to recording and live performance: ‘This recording is many things to me; acknowledging and sharing my roots, my influences, my senses … consolidating my bonds with music … exploring the challenges of simplicity, form and craft.’

songs about longing, loss, hope and discovery

And mad day dirt rain feels like bringing it all home - folding back layers of intractable tradition and misunderstanding, presenting the slide guitar and voice in unobstructed context and most of all, conveying encouragement and hope.

The subtext of mad day ….. relates to musical life, the long road of discovery, learning and infinite trappings. Miller casts a very intimate desire to share, enlighten and perhaps fulfil - to enable the listener to absorb the intention and be reminded that music is highly cross-dimensional in terms of style, experience, genre, epoch and culture.

Hopefully this music, this minimal setting, captures connection, anchors place, absorbs hurt and transcends moment.
